Welcome to the New Technilube.com Blog and Site!
If you found this post, you have discovered the Technilube.com blog on the new site. Welcome.
Technilube.com has been online since the early-to-mid 2000s. For several years, I regularly updated the site while helping customers with their AMSOIL needs. At times, though, I spent so much effort acting as the webmaster that I was not spending enough time reaching new customers and building the business.
A Change of Pace
Around 2010, personal and career changes, helping others with their businesses, and new local film ventures pulled me away from being an active AMSOIL dealer. I still supported existing customers, answered questions, and attended ...
Too Broke for Sturgis 2026
August 8, 2026

A Shaky Start
I've been out at the Too Broke for Sturgis event hosted by the Pirate's Pub for several years, and it seems to be growing. This year we had doubts early on — few vendors showed up, there were no food trucks, and rain had been threatening for days. Usually there's a good turnout by 10am with bikes already lined up, but this year started off pretty dead.
Weather Flips the Script
Two years ago the show ran just hours before a hurricane hit, and today was supposed to bring normal rain — instead it turned hot and sunny ...
1st Racer and Creator Expo (RACE)
July 31–August 1, 2026

What a show! The first Racer and Creator Expo (RACE) was a new experience for me. I had not worked a show in a convention center in probably 20 years, which meant no rain to contend with for a change—any showers stayed outside.
Working with AMSOIL Corporate
This was also my first time working alongside AMSOIL Corporate at a show. The team included marketing staff, a Product Development Engineer, and Product Marketing team member, so there was plenty of knowledge being shared.
Years ago, AMSOIL held regional Dealer meetings where Corporate representatives could answer our questions directly. This event brought ...
2026 Treasure Coast Automotive Car Swap Meet & Car/Truck Show
May 2-3, 2026

A Promising Start
This was a good show, although it ended up being a disappointing weekend because of the weather. The event was well laid out, and a good number of people arrived on the first day to browse the swap meet vendors and look at the cars and trucks on display.
An adjacent BBQ festival added even more to the experience, with plenty of delicious food choices for everyone. Live music in the evenings also helped create a fun atmosphere and gave visitors more to enjoy beyond the vehicles and vendor area.
Mother Nature Steps In
Unfortunately, day two was a ...
Lee Civic Center Marine & Boat Show 2026
April 10–12, 2026
The Lee Civic Center Marine & Boat Show gave me the chance to attend a new event in Southwest Florida and spend a few days back in the Fort Myers area. After driving to Georgia earlier in the month, the trip made for another enjoyable stop on the road, this time focusing on the AMSOIL Marine Products.
Arriving at the Lee Civic Center
I arrived the day before the show opened and stayed on site in the van. By the end of the evening, I was the only one on the property—so the running joke was that ...
50th Anniversary Spring Moultrie Automotive Swap Meet & Car Corral
April 2–4, 2026
My First Moultrie Swap Meet
This was my first time traveling out of state to work my AMSOIL booth at an event. I had heard good things about the Moultrie Automotive Swap Meet from other organizers and vendors, so I decided to try the Spring show. The larger event is still held in the fall, but the 50th Anniversary Spring Moultrie Automotive Swap Meet & Car Corral sounded like a great opportunity to see what it was all about.
I arrived a day before the show opened to set up my booth. One of the first things I learned: Georgia ...
Peace, Love & Vans 2026
March 6–9, 2026

A First-Time Vendor Experience
Peace, Love & Vans was a great event and a completely different experience from simply attending as a visitor. I stopped by for one day last year to see what it was all about and meet a friend who had come down from Georgia. With hundreds of vans arriving from across the country, it was easy to see why the event has such a loyal following.
This year, I set up an AMSOIL booth to talk with attendees about using extended drain intervals to help protect their engines as they travel long distances through changing climates ...
9th Annual Skoolie Swarm
February 25–26, 2026
Event dates: February 20th–March 2, 2026

I attended the 9th Annual Skoolie Swarm following an invitation from founders Michelle and Travis Mattson, whom I met at VanFest. While talking with them, I mentioned meeting one of their members, Ace, at VanFest 2025 who had an AMSOIL Dual-Gard Bypass filtration system he was excited to show me. That conversation led to the idea of attending the Swarm and presenting a seminar on lubrication for the diesel engines used in many Skoolies.
Bringing AMSOIL to the Swarm
I asked my Direct Jobber and sponsor, Dan Watson, to join me for the seminar. Dan ...
Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo (S.A.V.E.) 2026
February 27–March 1, 2026

Back at the S.A.V.E. Expo
After a good response at last year’s Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo, I returned in 2026 with my AMSOIL booth. The show was conveniently located just down the road from Skoolie Swarm, making setup quick and easy. There were plenty of interesting vehicles, off-road equipment, and accessories on display.
Meeting Vendors and Making Connections
Rain moved in on the first night, but I still met some great people at the food tent and spent time talking about shared interests and other events. The next day, I walked the show before opening, met vendors and sponsors, and ...
VanFest: LIFTOFF! 2026
February 7–8, 2026

A Cold but Memorable Weekend
This was my third year at VanFest, and every year has gotten better. This year, however, was cold. Rain before the event also forced it to move to a drier section of the grounds.
The new location changed some of the familiar flow, but it also made it easy to walk the rows of vans and Skoolies that had traveled from around the country to be there.
Exploring the Vanlife Community
What I enjoy most about VanFest is the vanlife community itself. It feels like a group of friends and extended family who meet up at events ...
