Technilube.com Updates

This is just an update page showing behind the scenes info and changes on what is making this site work and when they happen. Partly for my own records should something “break,” but also for those really interested.

  • Broke the site theme template I had made, and spent two days figuring out where before getting it to function correctly after finding the corrupted template setting.
  • Site is live, but I’ve not made it search friendly yet or moved the domain over.
  • Built a 404 Landing Page
  • Made lots of 301 links so when the domain shifts, things point to new info, if it exists: old diesel page points to the new diesel page, old motorcycle page to new motorcycle page, etc. Old expired pages or ones with products no longer avilable will fall to the 404 page.
  • Added two topics about oil:
  • Copied over the old media pages featuring article excerpts from magazines and other sources I used to collect and share when AMSOIL was still an obscure name but got some “new product” exposure. More of a nostalgic and historical reference.

Finished entering all products currently available and the proper backend info needed for Content Views to populate the Product and Application menus correctly (hopefully).

Today was the day I decided it was time to take what I had online for testing.

  • Organized internal files to prepare for upload
  • Added some more live widgets to the side menu and main landing for the event coverage, blogs, and short cuts to the PC, Retail, and Commercial Account info for now.
  • Uploaded local working site host server and testing. Fixed broken plugins so site works and one shortcode code that was accidentally deleted in the blog section.

Site appears to be functioning like it was when hosted and built locally now. Will be retesting all the links before adding more.

Decided to add the event coverage entries into the Blog and ended up needing to build my own blog logic to work (with AIs fragmented help). Seems the way the site is being built, the “automated” entries broke here using widget or the default WordPress system. After trial and error, a system was figured out to resemble a standard blog within the main window with left menus to navigate within and the “brains” to display it.

Since my original blog from years ago was lost a few years and there seemed to be no way for my provider to retrieve it without the proper SQL info, I thought everything was lost. I discovered Wayback Machine had scanned it a few times and many entries were stored, or at least least partial.

After hours I was able to recreate my old blog going back to 2006, even if just article placeholders until I can maybe find the original material, if it’s still anywhere. But I wanted to show the history activity, even though it is old info and many of the products references I am no longer involved with and/or AMSOIL has stopped making.

Built out the the Show Coverage and Reviews. This will contain all shows, whether I am a vendor or just visit, with comments about the show along with galleries and videos from the event. This is what Facebook lost.

I made entries for all shows for 2026 and 2013 has a test case for the gallery. This was a lost entry on Facebook. Over time I intend to add more previous events with galleries, the 15+ years lost from my Facebook exposure.

Fixed Upcoming Shows Menu so that when I enter a show it appears here as well as other widgets on the site, mainly the right side. Once the show date has passed, it automatically moved it down into the Attended Shows for a record, should anyone be interested in the info. These are shows I have a booth at

Completely removed the site, went back to building within LocalWP until I’m ready to upgrade or move to a more WordPress friendly host.

Loaded what I had of the site done showing my history, Amsoil History, Contact forms, buying options, etc. Very basic. Also a total build from scratching making my own theme since any premade option I was using limited me to what they had, not what I wanted, and wanted to charge money.

Site crashed my host provider. Seems what I have had there for the cost can handle my old 2005 php site, and even though it handled other WordPress installs, but suddenly trying to use this new one with Elementor broke all of them.

A complete rebuild of my old Technilube.com website. It’s be long needed and the old landing page I was using to replace this stopped working January of this year. I’ve long been planning to build this out using WordPress, but it also had been years since working with it, so it was an almost new animal once I got started.

Intially I started using AI, beginning with ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas and what could be done. As it promised me the Lamborghini I realized after many days of accomplishing nothing that it had no idea to help create any of the other discussed. It was always asking if tires were round until I finally asked it if it knew how and it’s roundabout way, it didn’t. This lead me to the promised of Perplaxity AI and it’s been much better, although I have found limitation in it’s forgetfulness too.

However it was able to direct me on what I needed to do and learn to get my project off the ground.

It’s been ongoing and I’ve been building inside LocalWP. I had a major show scheduled at the end of July and wanted my business cards to open an evening partially done new site versus my old 2005ish one that hadn’t been touch since around 2010.

What you are at is the work in progress. I have some lofty goals planned for the next few years, but for now I’m trying to pull in lost into. Facebook deleted my original page I shared events and photos from, so they will now be hosted here. Over time I will be adding more as I find more pictures. I’m also adding these with comments from the shows and into the blog I’ve created from scratch. There will be the option to read about the shows, or see them within the blog. Ultimate goal is I enter information, either shows, comments, product news, etc. and it will be in the areas it pertains to so you can see it while looking your particular interest.
