Last year I made an announcement when Amsoil released the Injen/AMSOIL joint effort Diesel Intakes. This past fall the two companies announced the release of several gasoline intake systems at the 2008 SEMA show and soon after announced 148 new systems for 150 different applications retrofitting older Injen systems with the Amsoil Ea Filters. With a new system designed for the current Ford Mustang on display, the intakes were selected as one of ten products at the show to win the 2008 Global Media Award.

Soon after, Amsoil announced the following Press Release:

Injen/AMSOIL Announce Addition of 150 New Gasoline Air Intake Systems

Fresh off the introduction of Injen/AMSOIL Cold Air Induction Systems for gasoline auto and light truck applications, AMSOIL is adding 150 additional gasoline air intake systems.

Market for Air Intake Systems

According to SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association), a new air intake is one of the first aftermarket modifications a car owner makes to his or her vehicle. This means that air intake systems consistently rank as the most popular consumer aftermarket accessories purchased.

Intake System Design

Cold air intake systems serve several important functions. Primarily, they are used to increase the amount of oxygen available to the engine, increasing power. Because cool air has greater density than hot air, aftermarket intakes improve combustion of fuel by capturing cooler air from outside the engine compartment. In addition, an aftermarket air intake system increases the diameter of the intake
as compared to the original equipment, increasing air flow into the engine and making more oxygen available during the combustion process. By designing a more direct route for the air entering the engine, as well as a smoother interior surface for the intake, air resistance is reduced and air flow is increased. Air intake systems can improve gas mileage and increase performance, and they also add a sleek, custom look to a vehicle.

Injen/AMSOIL intake systems offer quick and easy installation. Kits include installation instructions complete with photos and descriptions. Short ram kits can be installed in as little as 15 minutes, and the majority of the systems can be installed in 45-60 minutes.

Each of the 150 new and current Injen/AMSOIL kits fall into one of four categories:

SP Intake Systems

SP Intake Systems feature the patent-pending MR technology process for optimal gains and a safe air-to-fuel (A/F) ratio. The SP Series is the world’s first tuned intake system, and is effective for both cold air and short ram systems.

IS Intake Systems

The IS Series features a traditional, under the hood intake system that is placed in the stock location of the factory air-box system. Each system is built from T-6 aluminum alloy to ensure the lightest possible design. The IS systems are certified, or pending certification, by the California Air Resource Board and are backed by Injen Technology’s limited lifetime warranty.

IS Intake Systems are dyno-tuned for peak performance. They are constructed of 6061 aluminum aerospace alloy and feature tig-welded ports and brackets and stainless steel clamps.

RD Series Race Division Intake Systems

An RD intake system is a cold air intake system for the enthusiast seeking mid-range power. The intake tube is strategically placed behind the front bumper to pull in colder, denser air. All RD systems are certified, or pending certification, by the California Air Resource Board and backed by Injen Technology’s limited lifetime warranty.

RD Series systems are dyno-tuned for peak performance gains and have a polished aluminum finish.

They feature a direct bolt-on application and are constructed of 6061 aluminum aerospace alloy.

Power-Flow Intake Systems

Specifically designed for high performance trucks and SUVs and engineered to meet the highest industry standards, Power-Flow Intake Systems feature the best technology available to provide users with optimal results.

Injen/AMSOIL Power-Flow Intake Systems provide the highest horsepower and torque gains within safe A/F ratio limits. The Variable induction (Vi) technology regulates air flow into the air chamber for quiet operation, allowing for added air flow and power on demand.

AMSOIL Ea Air Filters

All Injen/AMSOIL systems feature AMSOIL Ea Air Filters (EaA), offering state-of-the-art filtration efficiency while providing excellent protection and air flow. The cleanable and reusable Ea filter element, with routine maintenance, provides longer filter life for substantial cost savings when compared to conventional filters. Some systems also feature removable prefilters, which remove larger dirt particles
and extend the life of the Ea Air Filter.

The larger inlet of the air intake systems increases horsepower and torque while providing more passing power for changing lanes, especially while towing. The larger inlet also improves acceleration as the smooth flow tube design straightens out the entering air for a quicker response from the throttle.

The design of the filter also improves performance. The 360° accordion-style filter element provides 500 percent more surface area, maximizing air flow into the engine.

Injen/AMSOIL Co-Branding

Like with the previously-introduced diesel and gasoline intake systems, the Injen and AMSOIL logos appear on all packaging components, filters, ads and everywhere else the product is available or advertised.

The partnership between Injen and AMSOIL provides Dealers unlimited sales opportunities. Injen/AMSOIL intake systems are second-to-none in the market place, and are great additions to the already strong line of AMSOIL products for the gasoline vehicle market.

“The addition of the Injen/AMSOIL intake systems to the strong line of AMSOIL filtration products represents an exciting opportunity for AMSOIL customers,” said Director of Aftermarket Products Karl Dedolph. “Injen/AMSOIL intake systems represent the highest level of technology available on the market today, and provide unsurpassed benefits to users.”

I just wanted to give everyone a brief update on the new products Amsoil has coming out and the latest updates I was told last night at our Amsoil Meeting at the PRI Show.

As posted in my previous blog, the Amsoil/Injen diesel intakes have been delayed with a March release date planned as they are doing some improvements to the systems.

Due to the delay in the computer system updates scheduled to go online this month at Amsoil, this has also delayed a few other releases. The custom made filters are one of these, since the design setup will be computer based. There main goal is to allow the user to input all the information into a program (online from what I understand) and then the info is sent to manufacturing. They want to try and keep as few hands from having to shuffle the info, pass it on, etc. in order to keep production cost as low as possible for the buyer. So it sounds like when you hit “order,” it goes directly to the production department. Unfortunately, since IT is busy with getting the new computer system online, this has delayed their time to work on getting this program up and running.

January we will see the Amsoil brake fluids released. There will be two lines, both high performance, but one aimed more towards heavy racing applications. They will be Dot 3 and Dot 4 fluids and we should get more detailed info on this closer to the release date. Even some possibility of it being unofficially released later this month.

Those are the main products we are waiting on. More is in the works, more oils, a new line of Gear Lubes, but not much has been given to me on what they will be or when.

We met some of the different Racers Amsoil is sponsoring and Boyd Coddington, his wife, and engine builder were all present giving a presentation on the build of their Bonneville Racer and insight on what’s coming up. They plan to build another car for next year, and their show will be leaving TLC and will be aired on the Speed Channel.

Some of the Amsoil products used in this year’s car were the Amsoil 10W-40 High Performance oil, a custom made Ea Air Filter, Amsoil Antifreeze/Coolant, and Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90 Gear Lube.

As some of you know from me talking to you, there are new performance intakes coming out in a joint effort between Amsoil and Injen for the diesel market. These were due for release this month, but there has been a delay. Below are the details I was given. Expect to see them soon.

11-29-2007
Introduction of the Injen/AMSOIL Intake System has been delayed
In an effort to further maximize the performance of the Injen/AMSOIL Diesel Air Intake Systems, additional design modifications are currently being done. This will delay the December introduction of the Intake Systems as announced at the regional sales meetings. AMSOIL regrets the delayed introduction of this highly anticipated product but determined it necessary to provide an even greater performance advantage over competitive products. The rescheduled introduction date is now set for March 1.

The news is now out. The AMSOIL/Injen partnership was announced at SEMA and is already drawing attention. From the Amsoil Site:

“According to one industry publisher, the AMSOIL Injen press conference this afternoon proved to be one of the most exciting events at this year’s SEMA. Hosted in the Injen booth, the news of a co-branded diesel intake system was presented by Roger Tibbetts of Injen along with Ed Newman and Karl Dedolph of AMSOIL, two great companies announcing a great partnership.”

“According to Steve Von Seggern, publisher of Four Wheeler magazine, the story that was unveiled at the Injen booth at 2:10 p.m. this afternoon was pretty exciting, one of the two most exciting things at this year’s show.”

In a nutshell, here’s the story:

AMSOIL and Injen Partner to Introduce the Injen/AMSOIL Power-Flow Diesel Intake System

SEMA – LAS VEGAS

AMSOIL announces the launch of a new Ea air filter specifically designed for newer diesel engines. To get that product to market in a complete assembled kit, AMSOIL has partnered with Injen Technology. The product will be marketed as the Injen/AMSOIL Power-Flow Diesel Air Intake System distributed by both AMSOIL Dealers and traditional Injen channels.

The new series of intakes features the innovative patent pending Variable Induction Technology, Diesel Power-Box and the dry media Ea nanofiber technology air filter from AMSOIL.

In other news, Boyd & Jo Coddington spent a portion of the afternoon in the South Hall signing posters and meeting with their fans in the booth that has been home to the AMSOIL/Coddington Bonneville rodaster these past several days. There was a good deal of excitement with media coverage that included internet TV and more.
