Another Jiffy Lube Report I found while looking for more info on first one below.
How well do you trust your mechanic? If you don’t have one, at least in these situations if you were using Amsoil and taking advantage of the extended drain intervals, you wouldn’t have to worry about these hassles and being taken for work you don’t need. You’ll know when they try to replace your air filter and the Amsoil one is reusable. Or when they want to do an engine flush and you’ve been running Amsoil for the last few thousand miles…your engine should already be clean.
Just as a disclaimer, this doesn’t mean all Jiffy Lubes are bad, as I believe they mention in both reports. In fact locally by me Jiffy Lube used to sell Amsoil until their parent company, Pennzoil, got upset that it was cutting into their profits and forced the owners to remove it. This isn’t uncommon when Amsoil starts to outsell they main oil line in the store. But there are companies and shops out there that do try and seperate the unsuspecting customer from their money if they can. Sort of like most of the oil companies always promoting that 3000 mile oil drain, and Amsoil has proved for over 35 years that if an oil is designed properly, it can run up to 35,000 miles!
